Partners and Network

Creating alliances and effecting change.

One of the most important ways that the Homeownership Preservation Foundation makes a difference in the foreclosure prevention arena is through our network. By building alliances with other nonprofit leaders, the Foundation reaches more homeowners and helps prevent more foreclosures.

Counseling Partners

Our credit counseling partners are neutral third party resources providing education and counseling that helps homeowners overcome financial difficulties and stay in their homes.

Ten leading nonprofit credit-counseling agencies provide the credit counseling service. These include:

Statistics show that acting as a neutral third party, the Homeowner's HOPE™ Hotline helps homeowners better manage their personal finances. Our counseling partners provide homeowners with a specific, actionable plan that can help them avoid foreclosure. English and Spanish-speaking counselors are available nationwide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Key Partners

NeighborWorks America®
In October 2005, the Homeownership Preservation Foundation joined with NeighborWorks America® to provide grant funds to support successful face-to-face counseling provided by NeighborWorks to local homeowners. NeighborWorks America's Center for Foreclosure Solutions, together with HPF and major mortgage lenders, led the introduction of the 2007 Ad Council national campaign.

Additional information is available on the NeighborWorks website and at The Ad Council website.

HOPE NOW
HOPE NOW, formed with the encouragement of the Department of the Treasury and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, is an alliance between counselors, mortgage market participants, and mortgage servicers to create a unified, coordinated plan to reach and help as many homeowners as possible.  The members of this alliance recognize that by working together, they will be more effective than by working independently.

Additional information is available on the HOPE NOW Alliance website.

National Urban League
Through the launch of our partnership in 2006, the Homeownership Preservation Foundation will provide up to $1.2 million to the National Urban League over three years to provide free foreclosure prevention counseling and education to African-American homeowners in Houston, St. Louis, and Philadelphia, where minority foreclosure rates are high and rising. The program includes mortgage default counseling and post-purchase education.

USA Cares
The Homeownership Preservation Foundation partnered with USA Cares to offer military homeowners free financial advice and access to up to $1.2 million in grant funds for families experiencing mortgage difficulties.  USA Cares is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting military homeowners and their families, particularly those who have recently been or are currently deployed in overseas military operations.

Additional information is available on the USA Cares website.

Funding Partners

In addition to the funding provided by the members of the HOPE NOW Alliance, HPF also receives support for our counseling services from Fannie Mae and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
